This section compiles the best and most comprehensive fan theories connecting the album's narrative and symbolism, sourced directly from the Reddit community.
The Story as I Understand It: Narrative Arc (u/tz-saints)
1. BLUE BOSSA: The Confrontation
Lausse is living in the state we left him in 7 years ago, tattered and broken. He compares himself to the mad in a desperate attempt to feel like he is not broken: “So I say to myself, see compared to thee ‘I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy...'”
The sun (representing life) has been tempting Lausse to face life head on. Lausse views life negatively because from it comes corruption and greed. Lausse is tempted by the moon (representing death) at this realization, believing the mad's view of death is correct.
2. I.D.W.G.A.J: The Fantasy
Lausse goes through different types of wealth he wants, from a simple life to a lavish, soulless existence. He finally settles on the **pirate life**, a life of uninhibited pleasure and wealth that doesn't fit the normal confines of a job. He craves freedom from the structure of life.
3. THE MIDNIGHT HOUR: The Rejection
The moon hears Lausse's speech and tells him life's offerings are temporary; he should find his place among the stars (death) instead. The sun attempts to reclaim Lausse, but he screams his final rejection: "I won’t grow I scream, flee, and run from the morning and jump to the stars in the hopes that I land on her."
4. THE MOCKING STARS: Limbo Begins
The sun gives up, retreats, and all life on Earth ceases. Lausse escapes to the stars, but they laugh at him, because they are dead and he is not. The stars mock him for leaving life so easily, and for not being brave enough to take his own life to join them. Lausse belongs to neither camp, stuck between life and death.
5. SPACE CADET CAT: The Grief Follows
Lausse escapes to Mars, which represents the space between death and life. Even in this limbo space, his grief still follows him, proving he isn’t safe from sadness even while away from life.
6. TEA PARTY: Accepting Death
The Mad reveal themselves on Mars (the limbo space). They are set on becoming like the stars and facing death head on. Each one of the mad slowly accepts their fate, chooses to take their lives, and passes over to the other side (joining the moon and stars).
7. KEEP ON WALKING: A Moment of Reality
Lausse excuses himself and passes out, dreaming of a life where he finds love (his real life). He wakes up to see the "dying stars" (the Mad who accepted their fate) shooting past him.
8. THE MOONLIGHT WALTZ: The Flower of Life
Lausse finally meets the moon (death) and they dance. As his grief follows him, he cries, and a flower blooms in his heart. He realizes that death is not the answer: "Until a hundred million different feelings came To greet the cat and rid him of his lust for sleep!"
9. PEONIES FOR BREAKFAST: Choosing to Live
Lausse confesses his love leaves him feeling unworthy. As he prepares to give up for the moon, the flower of life blooms inside him, and he realizes he wants to live.
10. LOTUS BLOSSOM: Acceptance
Lausse says goodbye to his "Lotus Blossom" (death). He admits he'll miss longing for her, but acknowledges he'll see her when it's time. As he falls back to Earth, he finally accepts that impermanence is what makes life beautiful, and he needs to be back on Earth with the sun (life).
Jung, Alchemy, and Ego Death (u/SimTrippy1)
I think The Mocking Stars is about Lausse having either a near death or a psychedelic experience, in which he goes through a kind of **Jungian process of conjunction** (a process by which we try to integrate our Sun (conscious self) with our Moon (unconcious self)).
Rejection of the Sun (Life)
The album starts with a depressed, avoidant Lausse trapped in a self-destructive cycle. He tells himself he's not crazy, but rather that "normal" society is nothing more than being trapped in a futile, endless loop. He rejects the sun (conscious existence) as it shines a bright light on the lies he tells himself:
"You peel off the eyelids i close tight shut. And burn upon a pyre the lies I love. How you gonna bribe a cat with a toast for the burden of mondays? Man I stay here tucked and be a kid forever in a world made up. I won't grow..."
Ego Death and the Abyss
Rejecting the sun becomes a metaphor for either actually dying (overdose/suicide) or a psychedelic **ego death**. The vast darkness of The Mocking Stars track, which eclipses the sun and moon, plunges everything into a frightening chaos, mixing reality with hallucination, as Lausse watches it unfold from above (near-death experience):
"[He] viewed all this from the tiles of his rooftop... And through his drenched eyes he saw then far in the distance, a shadow spin round in a furious fit, for all the Mad Hatters had gathered round Saino’s..."
He's mocked by "the stars," which I believe is Lausse in conversation with his own **Jungian Self**, chastising himself for not having the guts to die ("The thought of never being again gives me a fright!") while also putting no effort into being alive ("I hardly think an effort makes a diff"). The **water imagery** (tears, drowning, stream) tracks his descent into the unconscious, reminiscent of **alchemical symbolism** where water represents dissolution and purification—breaking down the old self.
Mars: The Inner Warrior & Limbo
Lausse sails to Mars, which symbolizes both him clinging to life and his unwillingness to return to Earth. In Jungian terms, Mars is the **inner warrior/action archetype**, meaning he's fully going to war with himself. During the Tea Party, he has a sudden flashback (*Keep On Walking*), realizing his eternal restlessness and dissatisfaction.
The Conjunction and Acceptance
It is this awareness of his own restlessness that allows him to "awaken to the moon" (his unconscious self) in *The Moonlight Waltz*, leading to the flower blooming in his heart—the beginning of self-knowledge. In *Peonies for Breakfast*, he recognizes he resents happiness because it "sweep[s] the dark that had come to own [him]," recognizing his depression as a false identity.
In *Lotus Blossom*, he falls from the sky "off for" Earth, accepting that **impermanence is what makes life beautiful**. The **Lotus flower** (growing beautiful from mud) symbolizes emerging victoriously despite challenging circumstances. He is willing to keep seeking those moments of clarity and meaning, even knowing they won't last, because the experience gave him fuel—the will to live and feel.

1. BLUE BOSSA
Intro
(Children whispering)
“Shhh…”
Lausse:
“Welcome back my dear children to the one and only Lausse The Cat Show!
(Yeeyyyy!)
On narration back from the depths of hell itself please give it up for the one and only; Tree Wizard!”
Tree Wizard & Children:
“Hello Kids…
(Yeeeeeeeeyyyy)
I am more than delighted to be presenting to you here tonight
Our second play titled; “The Mocking Stars!
Where we find our poor tattered cat…”
Still cold
(Oh no…)
Withered and heartless…
(Oh my!)
Whispering to himself for yet
Another sleepless night…”
Verse 1
Lausse:
The autumn moon comes with haste and yawns through the night
She haunts all my dreams with the humming of the dead
I pop corks and caps to collapse without a fight
But a whisper from a corps comes to spoon me in my bed
Crawl crawl, come close, come caress, come masseuse me
I'm pally with the dead like I'm uzi
To sleep sound, I should spoon a person more suited
And fill em with stars till we're both sky high
I flick through a flip phone to call a fine dame
But the kittens tail flops like it's made of what is luffy
It's hard to stay straight when the minds plagued with whispers
And sights of the sun become as rare as a smile
"Gommu Gommu no hard on", I put some fine garms on
and leave to greet the moon with my finest feline eyes
A thousand thoughts crawl through my head
They whisper in a voice like the winds of the night
"The boy is mad mad
He's bad in his canvas
It's stained with blood red
And the devil's inside him!"
I stroll through the town to seek silence
And escape asylums and find souls madder than I am
I find a bunch of mad cats sat outside Saino's
Sipping Sangria on the sidewalk
I find comfort and the silence I yearned
As they scream some absurd shit and sing
So I say to myself, see compared to thee
Chorus
“I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health
I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health”
(you are loopy…)
(you certainly are!)
“No im not”
Verse 2
Reassured by the Hatters next to Saino’s
I set sail to sleep sound and send my soul to Z land
I shut my sight and swam to slumber next to Nemo
But sunk to the abyss and I got Hades as a host
The dead hummed, it sent my sore soul slightly mad again
I tried to count sheep and turn the scene as black as toast
But when the curtains closed I met again with Bathomet
He sent me whispers like a willow in the wind
It got my whiskers in a twist
So I went to seek the alley cats for comfort that my pillow couldn't give
And when our eyes met I strained a sigh so sublime
That you wouldn't get the same had you yawned into a sieve
They were sat in a ring by a fire in a bin
Singing songs between sips of warm larger in a tin
They sang songs of madness about how they'd hijack
A ship filled with gin and sail the fucker straight to Mars
I laughed and saw again that I was sane
Seeing fully mad cunts put my issues to a shame
I headed back home and left the hatters to their madness
A sense of smug gladness had settled in my soul
As I skipped home the autumn moon hung above my head
The whispers of the dead had simmered down to a hum
I waited for sleeps lips to come kiss my neck
As I sung a little song to sink myself into slumber
Chorus
“I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health
I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health”
(La, la, la, laaa)
The Tree Wizard:
“Ladies and gentlemen; The Mice…”
Bridge
The Mice:
“To his dismay, as he huddled in his quilt
A white ray of dusty light made a puddle by his pillow case
The night was spent with the shadows and the sins
So the sand man had skipped him and gave him back his silhouette
The yellow sun had slept sound and rose to yawn
He stretched his long limbs through the canvas of the dawn
He figured he ain’t seen the sun smile since summer
So he slipped out his cat-flap to light himself a cig”
(What the fu…)
“Kitten stopped dead as he stared in disbelief
At the scene now displayed by the sun above the streets
A thousand souls with their eyes glued to screens
Where enslaved in the taxpayers rhythm of the week
Their shadows were stitched to the souls of their feet
They squealed like swine
They queued in a line
To sell their souls to the devil in a suit and a tie
For a car and a holiday in Crete”
Third Verse
Lausse:
The sad sight caused my sore soul
To slip low inside me and shriek
The mere thought of being swapped for Ryanair flights was frightening
A whole soul’s a big price to pay
For a trip to a sandpit fit for a head needing hiding
I'd like not to partake in mankind's disease
So a dance with the Mad by a fire seems beguiling
And watch earth's demise slip from under my feet
As i prance under moonlight to blind me
I smile and say
Chorus
“I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health
I'm not crazy, you guys are crazy
Life is but a loop and I enjoy myself
I'm not loopy it's just that
I've not slept much in the last days
I loathe my health”
(You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself…)

Prelude
If I had some P's I'd
Pass my driving license
Buy myself a Twingo
Buy myself some ice and
I’d find myself a mistress
And take her somewhere nice then
Take her for some drinks
But my wallet’s so dry
And I don't wanna get a job
“Naaaahh”
Verse 1
See I’d keep a house in London
Live a life of leisure in a city
Where they seldom pity people with low funds and
Have a place where sun comes
More than twice a shitty little year and have
A hammock hung handsome between two branches
Rid lung cancer and buy another gut
Spend my life in hammocks, smitten, sitting, sipping coconuts
With a whistle on my lip, always pissing in the wind
Feeling happy 24/7
Cause see I’d drink the finest red wine and eat in little diners
Open up the check to find I tipped the guy two fivers
(Why thank you, sir)
Smile at the waitress cause all my teeth are whitened
But that'll never happen cause I hate the dentist
Plus I never wanna get a job
“Naaaahh”
See I'd buy a massive mansion
Invite all of my good mates to live in it
Have a huge oil painting painted where the ceiling is
Massive pool for swimming in,
Cellar full of liquor and a ban on
Anything that fucking isn't Rock & Roll
It’d be the best place to bill a spliff
Fully fill a fridge with all the elements for dinner
Get peng food delivered without scamming out Deliveroo
Have a double bed amidst the middle of the living room
So maybe then I'd feel a little bit less lonely
(aww)
Say maybe then I’d feel a little bit less lonely
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the world's smallest violin”
Cause see if I had some p's id,
Pass my driving license
Buy myself a Lambo and
Live a life so lifeless
I'd be one of those wealthy guys
That says that love is priceless
Loathe myself and lose the light
That hides behind my eyes
Verse 2
B-ahwe:
(So what you're saying is we shouldn't give you money, right Lausse?)
No, you should mate
(why?)
To live a shit life s’alright, but in a good state like
Instead of a Burger King, I’d buy myself a good steak
And savor it so I won't taste the bitterness of blues
Fill a liver with a wine that's seven quid instead of two for six at Boozebin
Buy myself some straights so I don't lose two minutes
When I'm in suits of linen, swinging a coupe of gin and tonic
To swoop some when I'm outside a club
I would pay the rounds of pool when we're all chilling in a pub
Get a pork belly roast ‘stead of picking on some scratchings
And live in dreamy bubble till the reaper comes
Till the reaper comes…
I wanna die Olive-skin, Beer-bellied with a smile on my face
“Chin chin” to life, bye-bye to grey skies above me
Meantime, I'm living in a suave little place
By the seaside with "arr arr" from seagulls above me
Surrounded by some females who love me
Back scratches and Baccy in abundance
Belly full of bubbly and fat fingers struggling to fit
Gold rings like they're strings on a fillet
And trust that I'd be eating good noodles everyday
Yeah I’d be eating good noodles every day
Yeah I’d be eating good noodles every day
Yeah I’d be eating good noodles every day
Verse 3
(So what would you do if you had some money?)
See I would Uber everywhere
Buy some Charlie for my fratelli
Smoke in every club I go
And if I'm fined, I'll pay a fare
Rent a room to party bare
Buy a massive fuck off rig and choose the tunes to party to
And loop 'em till I’m hardly there
Loose a screw and go to care
Pay a dude two hundred grand to prove
I'm anything but loopy, get let loose in underwear
Then I'd try apply for mayor
Get reduced the stupid fares to travel on the
London underground cause frankly, I'm not paying
2030 be prepared
Lausse The Fucking Cat for mayor, but I don't wanna get a job!
(No, I don't wanna get a job!)
I don't wanna get a job
(No, I don't wanna get a job!)
I don't wanna get a job
(No, I don't wanna get a job!)
I wanna live like “eye-eye” pirates and pillage
Gold, nutmeg, cloves, pepper, silk, myrrh, saffron to trade
Lay a thousand different women in a thousand different ways
And have a thousand little kittens, have them call me captain
Conquer seven seas and every bay
Fill a boat with rum and sway through every sunny day
Till summer seems like something that'll never leave
And have it stay the same, cause see a pleasure only fleeting
If you let it leave and I would never let it leave
And I would never let it be a melancholic memory
A felony it be to let the pelican embezzle all my joy
Fuck a job, I'm off to sail the seven seas Olay Ahoy!
Fuck a job, I'm off to sail the seven seas Olay Ahoy
(“YO HO, YO HO, A PIRATE’S LIFE FOR ME!”)
“fuck-a-job-i’m-fuck-a-fuck-a-job-i’m-off-to-sail-the-sail-the-seven-seas-the-seven-seas-olay-ahoy…)
Outro:
If-i-if-i-if-i-if-i-if-i had some p's id,
Pass my driving license
Buy myself a Lambo and
Live a life so lifeless
I'd be one of those wealthy guys
That says that love is priceless
Loathe myself and lose the light
That hides behind my eyes
So I don't wanna get a job
(NAAAAA)
“SAY I DON'T WANNA GET A JOB”
(NAAAAAA)
“SAY I DON'T WANNA GET A JOB!!!”
(NAAAAAAAAAAA!!!)
“SAY I DON'T WANNA GET A JOB!”
(NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH)
“lah, lah, lah-lah-lah-la-lah-lah-lah-lah-laaah…”
3. THE MIDNIGHT HOUR
Intro
The Tree Wizard:
“The Moon heard this, and said to the cat…)
B-Ahwe aka The Moon:
“Lay yourself down by the moon
I'll tell you all you need to know
See, pretty things don't get you far
You'll lose your soul and so much more
So come find yourself
In the stars…”
The Mad:
“On sleepless nights, the sweet moon rises
And bone drops bleed on the tiles below
The poor cat stares from his rooftop
Dreaming to dance with the moon
In the midnight glow
The sun, meanwhile scrapes windows
Thieving dreams from eyes still sour
(No, give them back!)
And the blue cat meows on his rooftop
Mourning the midnight hour…”
Verse 1
Lausse:
Perched upon the blue tiles of my humble roof
I reside with my wide eyes aligned by the moon
See me purr with my ears perked, observing her thick curves
curve past the skyline of Earth's urban dunes
I sigh as she sweeps past the night sky allumed
Wishing I could fly with the bones souls, ghouls and the spirits
For their last dance before the sun arrives to scare the moon away
And he mutters to me…
The Moon, aka B-Ahwe:
“Come, my child
Awake and see the sun that shines so bold
It’ll ease your soul”
Verse 2
I see the sun’s long twinkling gold thin fingers
Climb my house walls to grab me by the scruff
I scramble up the pipe quick to dangle in the night
Tuck and gander at the spirits in the tango up above
They bellow down;
The Mad:
“Dance, dance under moonlight’s smile
Let her glow turn you blind to the world's pain and sadness
Hear the click clacks from the bones as the ghosts waltz around
To the sweet sound of samba that hushes out the madness”
Lausse:
Blind to the red seas of violence
Gaze at the moon as I lie by Poseidon
A bomb-drop’s a bass in the background
I whistle in the tune of alarms from the paramedics’ siren
Moonlight turn my blues to a lilac
Death cometh through if I turn to Orion
Come take my soul, quick please
For I see the sun's rays reach coming but she mutters to me
The Moon:
“Come, sweet cat
Come sleep in peace amongst the dormant stars
Rest at last…”
Chorus:
“Il me prend la couette et me dit
Tout doux, le soleil vient te lever, aller
Bouge, bouge, sors du lit, danse et vis
Sors dehors
(Sort dehors, sors dehors)
Mais moi je ferme les rideaux
J’lui dis zou, zou…”
Verse 3
Perched on the grim tiles of my humble slum
I reside with my ringed eyes aligned by the sun
See me curse as his grin brings to birth all the sins
Hidden nice under curtains of night’s gentle thumb
I cry as the rum-loving pirates are turned into madmen
Now their sermons they seem but a ramble
The mermaids have turned into land whores
The burnings of lust trickled down to the flame of a candle
“Dire sun get fucked”
You peel off the eyelids i close tight shut
And burn upon a pyre the lies I love
How you gonna bribe a cat with a toast for the burden of Mondays
Man, I stay here tucked
And be a kid forever in a world made up
I won't grow
I scream, flee, and run from the morning
and jump to the stars in the hopes that I land on her
Chorus:
“Tout doux, le soleil vient te lever, aller
Bouge, bouge, sors du lit, danse et vis, sors dehors
Et moi je ferme les rideaux, j'lui dis
Zou zou, sors de là, moi je veux dodo aller
Oust, oust, trouve des fleurs
J'suis crevé, ferme la porte”
4. THE MOCKING STARS
Intro
Lausse & The Sun:
“I want no job”
No job for Lausse
“No nine to five”
No, no, no, no
“Keep all your gold”
No one mentioned gold
“I don't need much”
You don't wish for a cushty life
“No, go away now please”
And you care not for the Sun
“Come on, I already told you mate, piss off…”
Fuck you Lausse, i bid you goodnight!
Narration
Lausse:
The sun looked away from the rude cat with a sulk
So thoroughly vexed and hurt by his meowing and whispers
That a huge, hot and salty tear flushed with a lug
From his eyes to the oceans below and fell with a crash
He withdrew his golden arms from the houses and streets
And the parks, trees and faces, and the trash all beneath
And he flung them up towards the skies and ceilings above
Where with golden claws for hands, he ripped the shadows from sleep
And he pulled them down like curtains, the blue seas turned blood red
And above them hung heavy the dour sun
Dragging night's cloak over his body, such an infant does
When sent to bed deprived of supper by a fuming mum
Waves of darkness came gushing from the abyss,
Running like death's ghost to swallow in its path all the light,
And with one last toss from the Sun and his black blanket
He eclipsed his final shine, and then the darkness arrived
At first, there was silence but then echoed a roar
From all those who lived like cattle to the rhythm of day
Civilisation ran amok, and the workers fell to nap
Whilst shops were robbed and plundered by the humans underpaid
And as the banks slept, and the law dreamed of order
And power slipped out of sweaty-palmed politicians
The law of the jungle took place in this disorder
And the suits stripped and cowered in their marble island kitchens
In clubs, songs were played back to back for the youth
Who regrouped there in masses, all trembling with angst
They had wished a revolution, but as soon as it had come
Chased oblivion with rum pills and industrial tracks
Then all came to a halt as the power ran dry
And the moon shone no more for the sun didn’t spy
The icy earth swung black and blind with lights absence
And fear chilled all souls as they prayed to the skies
Palaces, houses, apartments, flats, flowers,
Forests, green gardens, brown gates and front lawns
Were thrown in huge fires set ablaze with small matches
To etch the silhouettes of scared faces once more
And since all the food had been looted with greed
In the chaos that had stemmed from forgetting what dawn was
Burnt corpses fed rats, and the rats fed the humans
Till rats were no more, and the humans ate corpses
The shit cat viewed all this from the tiles of his rooftop
His small house untouched due to rivers of tears
That flowed out of his eyes and made waterfall walls
As he wept for the glow of his sweet moon disappeared
And through his drenched eyes, he saw then far in the distance
A shadow spin round in a furious fit
For all the Mad Hatters had gathered round Saino’s
To dance, run and sing as they pranced round the pit
Their shattered teeth clashing with bottles of glass
And eyes red as rubies from madness and fumes
In turn, one by one, howled and leapt in the fire
To extinguish their souls and be one with the moon
And as their flesh left them, their souls grabbed the smoke
Which whisked the ghosts up to the stars in the skies
Where they landed on Mars, for it’s told as a rumour
The moon there still sings and shines nice on the eyes
Alone, the cat wept;
“A plague upon you wretched sun!
You bring the burning pain of man to stain the doorstep that I sweep”
The stars cackled at the sight, the fires crackled in the night
And shone ablaze the scene that Lausse had sought to hide within his dreams
And his tears dripped and splashed a mossy puddle to a lake
Which spilled and morphed into the Lethe river running free
And paved before his eyes a road towards the sullen skies
Where he could hear the mocking stars in fits as humans burned beneath
He heard the laughs and calmly told the sun to leave said;
“Fuck a job, go sing to those who worship p’s and being tanned”
And he skirted down his roof and used a tile to surf the stream
He tied a Rizla as a flag and bade a bye the burning damned
The flesh of churning humans made their limbs appear to wave
The shrieks would seem to cheer him luck as he departed from the land
He yelled ahoy and grabbed the helm and set the sail towards the night
And sang himself a song the sailors sing in ports of Amsterdam
J’me lave les mains mes peines me pèsent
et j’en veux pas quand j’m’envole loin dans l’au-delà”
And he sailed towards the stars and once beneath them yelled above
“I seek to dance amidst the moon to blind my eyes of all things sad
Curl my body in a ball upon the crevice of her arch
For she can cradle me to sleep to hush the hummings of the Mad!”
The stars were struck and startled harshly by the mortal cat's demands
But soon they rippled out and echoed loud a belly laugh anew
For see, the stars are just the dead who sparkle hard to seem alive
And there before them was a cat who’d blindly die to bed the moon
They giggled;
Chorus
The Stars:
“You will, you will, you will, you will,
Never, never, never, never
Find a, find a, find a, find a
Lover, lover, lover lover
Haha, haha, haha, haha,
Haha, haha, haha, haha
She will, she will, she will, she will
Never, never, never, never
Love you, love you, as long as you’re
Living, living, living, living
Living, living, living, living”
Verse 1
Lausse:
Holler, hello, hallo
May you hear my hollow heckle
Echo high and halt the hollow howl
You cackle in my ears
I hope to sleep and drag the blinds
I've peeped my people's pantomime
Enough to know to leave the show
Before the closing hour arrives
I wonder will I, will I, will, will I
Ever find a little silver
Sliver of a linen line
To sew myself a pillow
Fit to kip and kick the bucket
Make like Hummus, dip or cut like scissors
Slip like in your missus, duck like pecking
Skip like class
And leave this little world behind
(the stars replied…)
Stars:
“No chance, little cat
You aint died yet
Our moon shines
For the fellas in the fire pit!”
(Kitten grabbed a Stella and replied)
Lausse:
I would, I could, I should've
Cooked and popped and snapped
And crackled quick before your cackles
Made me gag for some bromide
I pander pious shouts to scout out your highness
With loins burning more
Than your burnt sparks provide us
(the stars cursed the cat,
Chiming quiet in a choir
They cackled at him…)
Stars:
“Listen, we know you ain't got
The innards or the belly for a dive
Tell us why you told
The timid sun to hurry off a cliff”
Lausse:
This world is clapped
I didn't wanna see our errors in a light
And call me tepid, but
I've hardly seen an effort make a diff
The Stars:
“Call the kettle black
But you just poured the oil on the fire”
Lausse:
At least the better generation need
No Clipper for their spliff
Let them safely solve the world with sweaty thumbs
In terms of fucks, I've given none and now
I'm dying for- I'm dying for a kip
Chorus
The Stars:
“You will, you will, you will, you will,
Never, never, never, never
Find a, find a, find a, find a
Lover, lover, lover lover
Haha, haha, haha, haha,
Haha, haha, haha, haha
She will, she will, she will, she will
Never, never, never, never
Love you, love you, as long as you’re
Living, living, living, living
Living, living, living, living”
Verse 2
I ask the stars
(Hello, Cat)
Let me sleep
Being stuck between two worlds is all I seek
When I fear
The day escape me
Then I spend the night
to tame the time that breaks me
(tik tok, tik tok, tik tok)
When I wake
In space I lull
To waste the time I'm gifted
Just to feel control
Like when you choose a person
Knowing they're made of clay
So when love crumbles once again
You're not to blame
(it's not your fault)
I always feel
Like life's a loop
Till I find myself once more
Dressed in a suit
So I wear a suit all year
To keep death distant
But I know a person's missing
When it's Christmas
When I fear
(When I fear)
I'll cease to live
(I'll cease to live)
Before my pen
(Before my pen)
Writes all I’d give
(Writes all I’d give)
When my eyes
(When my eyes)
Meet starry nights
(Meet starry nights)
The thought of never being again
Gives me a fright!
(Gives me a fright!)
When I watch
(When I watch)
A face adored
(A face adored)
Then I weep to think
I'll see said face no more
(Said face no more)
When these fears
(When these fears)
Drive me to the brink
(to the brink)
Then love and fame
(fame)
Till nothingness do sink!
(sink, sink, sink, sink)
Verse 3
Lausse looked down at his feet, all bashful
and gulped down his howling defeat
His blue tiled barge merged to one with the seas
And the oceans' garm showed him all he had dreamed of
A handful of stars now blurry
The waves turned their sharp beams furry and meek
They played round his finger, he swirled out a tango
And twirled ‘em away with a swipe of a paw
The lone moon her pale head; a bowl full of milk
And a snout so close he could bend down and drink her
Dinner alfresco, alight with some tinsel
He knelt down and smiled at the sight of this picture
Then he fell headfirst in the picnic…
(splash)
Children:
(Oh no, come back!)
(Oh no…)
(Don't go, little cat)
Outro
Papet:
“As one of our poets is fond of saying, if I may quote…”
(Oh yes, yes, please do)
“Where are you going stream
Far, far away
Take me with you stream
Take me on your dark journey
Lord Frith,
Take me far away to the hearts of light
The silence
I give you my breath
My life
The silence…”
(the silence)
5. SPACE CADET CAT
Intro
Children and The Mad:
“I’m the lord of the bins”
“I'm the prince of cats!”
(Meow)
“I am the moon!”
(In the stars)
“He's probably right anyways, there's not much to do here.”
“Yeah, all the bombs and that, I think there's more funner places to go.”
(“By the moon”)
“Yeah, less scary places”
“Everyone's gone mad these days. We're all going to be like… like robots soon anyways.”
(“My favorite meal is McDonald's”)
(Alright, alright!)
“I think one mad robot will get the nuclear bomb password one day.”
“Yeah, and like, just drop it from so high up into the water”
“And it's going to be so heavy it'll just drop right down into the center of the earth!”
“And it'll all just melt and be like one big supernova!”
“And the planes, the planes will come”
“The planes will come”
“They'll come, and they'll be painted jet black, you won't see them in the night sky”
“We’ll only hear them, it'll be like one big loud roar, roaaaarr!”
“And then, then I guess, just silence…”
Verse 1
On a spaceship, kitten sailed away to Mars
He pushed a button, “bleep-bleep”
Gaze in awe as it departs
It soared and raged and roared an awful noise that tore the skies apart
And formed a whole as large as what the kitten harboured in his heart
With a crate of rhubarb gin, a thousand cigs and his guitar
The cat embarked towards the dots that shone so bright amidst the dark
Well away from humankind, their awful laws and their demands
The kitten yearned to flee the scene and spend his night amongst the stars
Ciao-ciao to bella, bye to foul-smelling cellars
All the ketted cinderellas and the bars
He bid adieu to tax, mortgage loans, debts, flats
Gormless folks, skets, Clap and all that causes cats to scarper
Farewell to failures, the past and broken hearts
Salut to war, pollution, politics
To marriage, kids and cars
Bye to living life abiding by a law that wasn't asked for
Kitten cursed the land below and left to lie amongst the stars
Chorus
“Earth is old, Earth is cold
So I sailed away to Mars
Life is gold, life is gold
Now I'm living with the stars
Earth is old, Earth is cold
So I sailed away to Mars
Life is gold, life is gold
Now I'm living with the stars”
(x2)
(And one, two, three and…)
Verse 2
Kitten landed on his planet
He stretched his limbs and whipped a chalice out
He poured himself a drink and looked below
His past abode was now surrounded in a thousand acid clouds
Which gathered round to blanket Earth within a toxic layer of smoke
He pressed a clipper to a blem
Wiped a tear and whipped a mattress out his ship
to weep himself into a kip
When he woke, he rose and looked again below
And saw the only home he knew erased
And then he realised that that was it…
“I recall when I would gaze towards the stars
And wish to sail to them in hopes
That shit would change and i’d be glad
Now my furry ass is posed upon
The planet they call Mars, and yet
I stare through tender eyes below
To what I used to have”
Bridge
“Pas de pas en arrière
Oui d'accord, oui d'accord
Je le sais, c'est fini
Mais ça m’rend si triste…”
“Pas de pas en arrière
Oui d'accord, oui d'accord
Je le sais, c'est fini
Adieu…”
Chorus
“Earth is old, Earth is cold
So I sailed away to Mars
Life is gold, life is gold
Now I'm living with the stars
Earth is old, Earth is cold
So I sailed away to Mars
Life is gold, life is gold
Now I'm living with the stars”
(x2)
(Let’s go!)
Narration
The lonely cat wiped his face as a warm tear fell into his chalice.
“It has followed me!” he hissed, addressing his unhappiness,
Looking over his shoulder as if it were behind him.
But all he could see was the blood-red landscape,
Where a lonesome silence echoed a reply.
With fear and madness as his only friends,
He threw his now salty gin to the ground
And decided to dance.
6. TEA PARTY
Intro
The Mad Hatter: “Hey, Lausse!”
The March Hair: “Hey! Hey Lausse!”
Lausse: “Oh, hello guys…”
The Mad Hatter: “Come here!”
The Dormouse: “Yes, come here!”
The March Hair: “Come, come join us!”
Lausse: “How did you guys get here?”
The Dormouse: “We burned!”
Lausse: “Ah, you burned…”
The March Hair The Mad Hatter: “Yes, we burrrneed”
(hahahaha)
Lausse: “And why did you guys burn, may I ask?”
The Dormouse: “We came to turn into staaars!”
The March Hair & The Mad Hatter: “Yes! Hahahaha yes! Stars!”
The Mad Hatter: “From Mars to stars!”
The March Hair: “From Saino’s to Halos!”
(hahahahaha)
The March Hair & The Mad Hatter:: “Let us explain, Hum hum…”
The Mad Altogether:
“Wobble and gobble your tears
We smile with yellow veneers
We flew to Mars, to try be stars
And flee from our horrible fears!
Come for a cup and a natter
We’ll dance till your worries lose matter
A plum and a pear, a mouse and a hare
Come dance with the fabulous hatter!”
The March Hare:
“I am the hare
In time I do despair
I'll ask the moon to rid me soon
Of time that paints my years!”
The March Hare & The Mad Hatter:“He is the mouse…”
The Dormouse: “mmph! The dark is coming!”
The March Hare & The Mad Hatter:
“Sorry Lausse, this dear mouse
Is somewhat quite scared of CATS!
We are mad, we are stars
Come with us and dance on Mars
We don't bite, we might bark
Come with us and flee the dark!”
(erupt into cackles)
Chorus
Roll it up, tuck it tight
Simmer down, find a light
You’re alone, who's alone
In the middle of the night
Peep the stars now in sight
It's alright, it's all nice
Drink with spirits and the sprites
It's all fine, it's all right
(x2)
Verse 1
Tea party on the red planet
Bought some red and my best manners
Met my fears with a treasure chest of
Dry gin and some Guinness tins
Said hello to The Mad Hatter
The Dormouse and the Spring Rabbit
All were gathered in limbo-land, the
journey rendered me quite famished
Acquiescent, they all agreed
To crack the loot and go ham at it
After double dozen cups of red
We're solving riddles they posed on Alice
She ain't never been to office squats
You can rave on a writing desk if
The stuff hasn't yet touched your balance
Guess she fell in holes on a regs
Cheshire grinning and freshly dressed
In checkered prints with the shins padded
The Madman hopped upon the banquet
and threw his limbs in seizured style,
From up he rose off the red planet
Swinging limbs and singing to us something
Close among these lines
He said
The Mad Hatter:
“I've nowhere left to find
In me a sense of peace
Come help me rid this mind of mine
so I can rest at ease”
Lausse:
And headless off he flew and left us in our limbo palace
Woosh, poof, gone, vanished
One less madman in our house to help us sing this ballad
Chorus
Roll it up, tuck it tight
Simmer down, find a light
You’re alone, who's alone
In the middle of the night
Peep the stars now in sight
It's alright, it's all nice
Drink with spirits and the sprites
It's all fine, it's all right
(x2)
Verse 2
We're all holding hands like Mitz
I va au bar for cigs
Rabbits cutting K for 9
And sniffs the hair of dog that bit
Racked like Ramsay's forehead
Julienne lines of Marco Pierre then dips
Snowman’s walking in the air
We gaze cigs dangling from our lips
Off he flies and tells us this
The March Hair:
“I sniff” - You sniff - “I sniff” - He hissed
“I sniff a gazillion stars and speed up
Till I'm ahead of tocks and ticks
Till I'm ahead of toxic time where
Pendulum clocks with nick my teeth
Like all of the souls I loved to bits”
He said adieu and went amiss
Who's the next one on our list
Who's it left come do your bit
Here, the dormouse crept from
Out a tea cup panicked in a fit!
I asked her what she wanted rid of
She replied with puckered lips
The Dormouse:
“Darkness coming stark and thick
Turns my spine into a stick
So I ask the moon to blind me
So I can't see darkness lit”
Lausse:
Hearing this, the moon did more and blitzed her eyes
Till hollow holes of coal were left
To guide our mouse through her abyss
Thus, my last fear left me lonely in this purgatory bliss
Singing this;
Last Chorus
Roll it up, tuck it tight
Simmer down, find a light
I’m alone, I’m alone
In the middle of the night
Now I'm young forever mindless
And I'm blinded from my fright
Guess the time has come for kitten
To go out without a fight
Im alone, im alone, im alone,
im alone, im alone, im alone,
im alone, im alone…
7. KEEP ON WALKING
Intro
“Smashed out his face, Lausse excused himself politely
And left the hatters battered round the table having tea
He wobbled and he bopped to flush the poison out his stream
And took the chance to walk and wander round to spy the sights to see
He pished and pashed all pissed and smashed and wobbled round the red
In search of somewhere cool and soft to lie his dizzy head
Without no luck, he stopped and dropped and quickly got to snoozing
And found himself with furless thumbs, a dream where he was human”
Verse 1
I left London cause my brain was a mess
Cause bud came the same age that girls grew their breasts
And Dizz came when guys got an eye for the girls
And the sniff came before love could beat up a chest
Stayed a bit clear but ended up as decent a mess
So I skipped on a coach with some clothes and a test
Stating that I'm switched off enough to be indebted
Of a loan and a grant in the land of the bet
Spent the first year trying hard to patch up a chest
Playing catch-up to chat shit and land in a bed
Till a fear birthed a cat cursed to snatch up a heart
Snatched a handful and hand-stitched a scarf for my neck
How's a hand-knitted scarf s’posed to patch up a garçon
Now I'm tryna warm burning desks to a scarlett
To try keep the pyre going, cologne made of bonfire
'Cause all eyes around me got their glints turning dead
Chorus
So I'll keep on walking, just go
Ain't no place made for me
I'll stop when I find a home
Till then I'll bop on my feet
Keep on walking, just go
Ain't no place made for me
I'll stop when I find a home
Till then I'll bop on my feet
Verse 2
I took the ferry and I sailed away to France
Thumbed myself to south so Lausse could serenade an aunt
There I met a lady, so I parted with my chest scarf
She left me, so I left France, but didn't lose my spark
Left with two hundred euros cash regardless
A little bag, a laptop and an SM57 mic and pranced
Round the streets of Berlin for a job and an apartment
but ended in a bar again
Lived on tips, kept my tongue tight, my dick tucked and crawled round at dark
Had some fun, a couple fist fights and learned to strum guitar
Spent my whole earned cash on cold gold German versions of a Carling in a bar
And after shifts, I’d prance to court a darling with a dance
Course my heart was caught harking for a damsel overseas
So I quit my job and packed the shit I hardly had said bye to Olly
Quick-quick departed, I flew back and nip-nipped to France
Went to kiss-kiss and dip-d**k in darling
It turns out she tik-tocked my heart
So we stayed found a flat, needed quick-quid for yard bills
And beer, food and stick-thin cigars
Cause the tips dipped and I can't pay for shit with guitar licks
My chick served some tins in a bar
I'd sell trap beats, you'll hear a little snippet in a bit
I was charmed, we were sweet sound and loved pricked with pins in our arses
But it's best to leave sweet a party in advance so I’ll
Chorus
Keep on walking, just go
(Don't stay)
Ain't no place made for me
(Run away)
I'll stop when I find a home
(Don't stay)
Till then I'll bop on my feet
(Run away)
Keep on walking, just go
(Don't stay)
Ain't no place made for me
(Run away)
I'll stop when I find a home
(Don't stay)
Till then I'll bop on my feet
(Run away)
Narration
“The sleeping cat opened his eyes,
and woke to find the moon beaming above
As he looked up, showers of light
burning with the weight of a million lifetimes
Whizzed over his head
But what he saw were merely dying stars
They shot past him
Scraping through darkness
to join the happy moon
Hoping to shine forever by her glow”
2nd Chorus
I ain't put no clothes on
Since me and lady met
I've been silent like my phone
Whilst they're asking if I'm dead
We got baccy, chroe and bottles
On the table by our bed
I ain’t never got to go
She be loving like a vet
(x2)
Poppy:
“Hey, little cat”
“Wake up”
“Hey cat, wake up!”
“Lausse, wake the fuck up”
“OI GET THE F**K UP OI!!”
8. THE MOONLIGHT WALTZ
Intro:
Mouse 1: “...we good?”
Lausse: “Sorry guys, my bad”
Mouse 2 : “Wait wait wait…”
Lausse: “Is everyone ready?”
Mouse 2: “Give me a second, gimme a second!”
Mouse 1: “Okayyy less gooo!”
Mouse 2: “Gimme a second!”
Lausse : “One, two, three and…”
Verse 1
The Mice together:
Awoken from his dream
By the glowing of her sheen
Kitten rose to greet the moon above his head
He was sleeping in a pile
Of broken teacups, plates and tiles
With a bottle as a pillow for a bed
He stood in front to hide his mess
And looked uncommonly impressed
At such a gorgeous bowl of milk amongst the stars
The milk then asked him down below
With a voice as soft as snow
Dear cat, why are you sleeping here on mars?
Narration
“And kitten bowed and swung his paws
Until his brow did kiss the floor
And told the moon that he’d not slept a wink in weeks
And since he hadn't had a planet
Having burnt it down to ashes
He had hoped on Mars the moon would give him sleep”
Verse 2
Upon her palace in the sky
She flexed a pale and gracious thigh
And from it sprung and skipped through lightyears with a prance
And landed right beside the kitten
So she grabbed him by the mittens
And then hand in hand towards the night, they danced
See the lovers waltz alike
A tender candle in the night
And peep him twirl and twinkle round his crescent lover
As they skipped from star to star
Leaving nothing left on Mars
A subtle rhythm in his heart began to flutter
And as he started weeping
(Splish-splosh, splash-splash, splish-splosh)
A tear fell in his chest
(Drip-drop, drop-drop, drip-drip)
And watch a tiny flower start to bud and grow and blossom in this unassuming mess
And look at how it grew,
And listen how it beat!
(Beep-beep, beep-beep, beep-beep)
Until a hundred million different feelings came
To greet the cat and rid him of his lust for sleep!
(Don't sleep! Don't sleep! Don't sleep! Little Cat! It's a trap!)
Verse 3
Lausse:
Little hurts more when you see in their eyes that a persons fell out of life
(Carry me upwards, I beg you, I am your friend, I’ve loved you since time)
Little hurts more when you see in their eyes that a persons fell out of life!
(Carry me upwards, I beg you, I am your friend, I’ve loved you since time)
Little hurts more when you see in their eyes that a persons fell out of life!
(Carry me upwards, I beg you, I am your friend, I’ve loved you since time)
(Carry me upwards, I beg you, I am your friend, I’ve loved you since time)
(Carry me upwards, I, carry me, carry me)
9. PEONIES FOR BREAKFAST
Chorus
I found a girl, but I seem far from breathless
She makes me smile and I'm hardly ever lonely
But each morning more it would seem I detest her
She sweeps the dark that had now come to own me
Some days I wake up to find she made breakfast
A change from the camels and the crates of Peronies
Those days I wake up and feel so depressed cause
I don't eye the world like she does through peonies
Verse 1
I found a girl, but it seems kinda stressful
I've not the joy for a walk in the park
Or a nice meal, an ice cream or nights nicely dressed for
they seem to chase from my chest all the darkness
Distaste for life had me searching for quests, but
She's got me taped to my bed like I'm dying
I’d hush out my fears making tunes at my desk but
Now I hear them scream as I lie by her thighs
When we hear fireworks I look quick for proof
Or I'm stuck with the thought that the planes are arriving
To scrape out the land with a last final “boom”
Whilst she looks at the light show, her hand locked in mine
Try learning nice when you know you're detestful
I wheeze out attempts like I'm losing a kilo
It's not nice to know that as much as it’s blessed still
The blues seem to stitch on to me like I'm Lilo
Verse 2
The cat bowed down and meowed at his muse
And howled out in fear at the fate he’d been handed
He whipped out a six-string, a six-pack, a quill, pad
And penned her a tune to declare love had landed
And asked in a song if she'd still turn a cat to a star
Knowing how now he’d not much to give
But slowly the plant grew and soon see the last thing he wanted
Was being cursed and turned to a squid
So he told her in tune that the moon turned his blues to a lilac
But doing so had sowed doubt within
The cold in his wrecked chest had kept him alive so
He wept for the hue he had tinned
The tears made it so that the plant grew and bloomed with a violence
That chased out the cold he had tinned
And soon, he could no longer fight or deny that
He felt in his heart more than soreness and wind
The stars sung…
Bridge
“Lonely cat felt oh so happy
His plant grew fat, and it soon started blossoming leaves
Slowly, now hear limbs whip, crack and grow
Twigs so sappy he soon was a blossoming tree
Only when wings start flapping, look downwards
And catch roots growing at the bottom of your feet
The cat howled, how’s it always happen
As soon as I'm glowing, see shade come bothering me
Lonely cat felt oh so happy
His plant grew fat, and it soon started blossoming leaves
Slowly, now hear limbs whip, crack and grow
Twigs so sappy he soon was a blossoming tree
Only when wings start flapping, look downwards
And catch roots growing at the bottom of your feet
The cat howled, how’s it always happen
As soon as I'm glowing, see shade come bothering me
Lonely cat felt oh so happy
His plant grew fat, and it soon started blossoming leaves
Slowly, now hear limbs whip, crack and grow
Twigs so sappy he soon was a blossoming tree
Only when wings start flapping, look downwards
And catch roots growing at the bottom of your feet
The cat howled, how’s it always happen
As soon as I'm glowing, see shade come bothering me”
10. LOTUS BLOSSOM
(Oh look, there's a cat falling from the sky!)
Chorus
So empty like sky
Without any sun
Lotus blossom, don't cry
You and I were meant to be one
And though we're apart
It won't be for long
I come to you
In my song
So happy we’re two
Like sparrows in spring
Lotus blossom, it’s true
Me and you
Like bow upon string
I live for the day
My journey will end
So I can touch you
Again
Chorus
So empty like sky
Without any sun
Lotus blossom, don't cry
You and I were meant to be one
And though we're apart
It won't be for long
I come to you
In my song
Verse 1
Lausse the kitten went and fell off for Earth
Dragged by a heart now fill-up with mirth
And falling, he grabbed his moon
And wrapped his roots
Round her in a love turned murderous
Clad with a smirk fit for a Tim Burton flick
Kitten knew this would end in dirt
For all things coveted perish in worth
And if love stayed, it would not be
Not be, not, it would not, it would not be perfect
But shit’s no fun if it stays unscathed
For lambs don't taste as gorgeous aged
But i won't taste shit if I Damien Hirst it
But what be mine makes yearn benign
For lust don't taste as gorgeous caged
But a girl called mine makes smiling worth it
Worth it, curse it, perfect
Shit don't age like bourbon, but
Bow when the curtains closing
Shit never lasts forever
Cats never climb on moons cause they don't
Shine bright with a feline tethered
Still better than some leather
(Still better than some leather)
I'll try land on a thousand moons
If a thousand still end up tearing
I’ve got in my belly
I've now got in my vessel
More than sticks and stones to pick and
Burn into a fire!
Burn into a fire!
Burn into a fire!
Burn into a fire!
(Burn into a fire!)
Narration
The Tree Wizard:
“Why hello again, everyone!”
(Yeeeeyyy)
“Did you enjoy the show?”
(YEEEEEYYY)
“Ahh, isn’t that just lovely…”
(That was a very nice story)
“And how's our fellow cat doing?”
(Floating through the sky!)
(meEoOoWww…)
“OoOooOo… Well good luck on that journey…”
(Bye bye lausse)
“And where, may I ask, are you off to now?”
Verse 2
Lausse:
Lausse the kitten went and fell off the moon
But shed not a tear as he bid goodbye
For down he flew in a nude so blissful
Burning crimson the dim-lit sky
And no stars mocked him or turned their heads
As our lady Godiva passed ‘em through
For Lausse slept sound in his newfound bed
And not even the dead mock those who try
Burn into a fire!
(Oh look!)
(There's a cat falling from the sky)
(Oh look, he's in space)
Chorus
So empty like sky
Without any sun
Lotus blossom, don't cry
You and I
Were meant to be one
And though we're apart
It won't be for long
I come to you
In my song
(Oh look, there's a cat falling from the sky!)
